What to Expect
What will happen on my first visit?
This seems to be what most people want to know before seeing a chiropractor, and this is certainly understandable if you’ve never been to a chiropractor before.
If you’ve never been to a chiropractor, I’m sure you have a lot of questions and ideas as to what a chiropractor does. Let’s take a moment to talk about what will happen on your first visit to my office.
During the initial consultation, we’re going to sit down, and you will have a chance to tell me all about your health problem, how it started, what it feels like, what you’ve done about it so far, and what may have worked before… even if it was just temporarily.
If after hearing about your problem it seems that your condition may be helped by chiropractic, I will perform an examination. There have been a few times where it has been very clear to me following the consultation that my office is simply not the best place for the patient.
I don’t accept patients for care that I don’t believe I can help. So I first evaluate your condition during the consultation. I then perform a postural examination, range of motion tests, a chiropractic spinal examination.
“Will I need X-rays?”
If after your consultation and examination I determine that x-rays of your spine are needed, we will perform an x-ray examination. X-rays are not needed for every person or every condition. The need for x-rays will be determined on a case-by-case basis, and the reason for the tests will be explained to you before they are performed.
At the end of your first visit, you will be scheduled for a review of the doctor’s findings. This follow up visit is a second consultation in which I go over the results of your examinations and tests. More importantly, I will also explain exactly if I can help you and how I can help.
All of your treatment and financial options will be explained in detail at this time. I will also be able to answer all of your questions so far. Some of the most frequent questions I am asked at this visit are:
- Can you help me?
- How long will it take?
- How often do I need to come in?
- How much does my insurance cover?
Unlike other chiropractors, Dr. Scott takes a very scientific and medical approach to analyzing and solving his patients’ problems. In my experience, other chiropractors tend to take a “band-aid” approach to chiropractic care–in that they merely do an adjustment and nothing else. Dr. Scott, on the other hand, will undertake a thorough evaluation of his patients, in an attempt to discover and understand what, if any, underlying conditions may be present that are causing the patient’s discomfort or condition. Then, Dr. Scott will develop a chiropractic care plan to address that condition. This is what differentiates Dr. Scott from other chiropractors Dr. Scott has a friendly and professional demeanor. He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain things to his patients. You will never feel rushed or uncomfortable in his office. His office staff is accommodating, friendly, and professional as well.
Dr. Scott saved my back and basically gave me my life back. No amount of Thank You is enough to thank him for all that he has done and continues to do for my back, lower back and overall health. Thank You and God Bless You…
